This class will introduce the term “Green Washing”, the six
sins of greenwashing, how to avoid greenwashing and the Federal Trade
Commission requirements for the use of general terms such as green and
eco. The presentation will include
examples from all industries and products.
Green Building 101– 1 hour (1 CEU)
This class introduces and explains the concept of green building from the perspective of those who participate in the actual design and construction of structures. Discussion will include the definition of green building and how energy efficiency, passive design, materials selection, water efficiency, indoor environmental quality, and site considerations play an integral part in green construction.

The 7 Key Concepts of Building Green– 2 hours (2 CEU)
This class introduces and explains the seven key concepts of building green, including energy efficiency, passive design, construction process, water efficiency and quality, indoor environmental quality, site and landscape, and materials selection. In addition the class presents the Florida Green Building Coalition Green Home Standard Certification criteria and process.

Building Green: Trends, Implementation and Case Studies– 2 hours (2 CEU)
This class will introduce green building the industry trends and market statistics. Case study examples of green built environmentally responsible homes that range from 1,000 square feet to 6,000 square feet will showcase implementation strategies for every price point. Case studies will focus on the seven key concepts of green building.

6 Concepts of Green Development-2 hours (2 CEU)
This class presents the six key concepts of green development including the protection of ecosystems and the conservation of our natural resources, the creation of a green circulation system, the green utilities practices, resource efficient amenities structures, community covenants and deed restrictions to promote environmentally responsible home construction, and the education of both the development team and community residents to help achieve and promote green living practices. In addition the class will present the Florida Green Building Coalition development certification standard.

Green Development: Industry Trends, Implementation and Case Studies-2 hours (2 CEU)
This class will present the industry trends and market statistics. In addition the class will showcase case study examples of environmentally responsible land developments from 5 acres to 5,000 acres. Implementation strategies for sustainable horizontal development are presented and discussed for all development types.

Designation Standards for Green Homes by the Florida Green Building Coalition-6 hours (6 CEU)
This class introduces and explains the Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC) Green Home Designation Standard. The course covers a general introduction to green building, the FGBC, the green home certification process and provisions, the eight categories contained in the green certification standard, and the FGBC exam required to qualify as a Florida Green Home Certifying Agent.
Green Commercial Certification: Organizations, Requirements, & Processes-4 hours (4 CEU)
This class introduces and explains the Green Commercial Building Certification process. A side by side analysis of the various green commercial certifying programs available will be presented. The core components of each of these programs on requirements for energy efficiency, passive design, construction process, water efficiency and quality, indoor environmental quality, site and landscape, and materials selection will be included. In addition, the class presents the processes required to achieve green certified status by the organizations that offer such programs.

Green Home Certification: Organizations, Requirements, & Processes-4 hours (4 CEU)
This class introduces and explains the Green Home Certification programs applicable to the Florida Home Building industry. Each green home certification program is presented followed by a side by side comparison of the
certification
requirements. The core components, main concepts and program specific requirements are detailed. In addition, the class presents the processes required to achieve green certified status by the organizations that offer such programs.
